Maximizing Your Studio's Potential - Required Books for Testing

This instructor's manual; which is the companion to The Student Log Book: Brass includes the methodology, expected outcomes, interpretation and scheduling of the entire program. A unique set of Measurable Skills Tests were written to be paired with the Arban or the Kopprasch method books, which for the first time allow the instructor to measure the student's abilities on a scale of 1-5 for each skill area. These tests correspond with the Measurable Skills section of the assessments from the Student Log Book: Brass.

Make sure that you have the correct Arban or Kopprasch method book by reviewing the list below. The instructor must have access to one of the following in order to administer the test:

TRUMPET
Arban Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet, Carl Fischer, Inc. (1936 or 1982 editions).

TROMBONE/EUPHONIUM
Arban Complete Method for Trombone and Euphonium, transcribed by Joseph Alessi and Dr. Brian Bowman, Encore Music Publishers (2002 edition).

TUBA
Arban Complete Method for the Tuba, transcribed by Dr. Jerry Young and Wesley Jacobs, Encore Music Publishers (2000 edition).

[The 1996 edition has different pagination and was redesigned for the 2000 edition to reduce page turns]

HORN
Kopprasch Sixty Selected Studies for French Horn, Carl Fischer, Inc. (1939 edition) Books I and II.

[The Chambers arrangement would work as well as the Gumbert arranged version listed above]

*Euphonium players can either test with the Trombone/Euphonium Arban or the C Tuba Arban (transposing up an octave).
**Bass Trombone players can either test with the C Tuba Arban or the Trombone & Euphonium Arban (transposing down an octave) - tempos have been reduced for some of the tenor trombone tests.
